Well Canon is one of the most power DSLR camera. Overall has the best rating. Simply fast, steady, powerful. This is the reason many reporters, and those a fast/powerful camera will go for it.

However, if we are a beginner user, simply take photos for interest or arts, there are always better choice. Canon DSLR photo may require some photo precessing/editing. That's why many users/reporter sit in front of their pc to edit/choose/process photos for hours after taken.

2 years back, canon DSLR photo, if printed out instantly, the colour simply can not make it.

For own use, may consider those brand with better lens, better colour balance technology. Although the precessor/machine not powerful as canon(which u dont require for daily use), u get better/fresh colour with out editing.
